Realizing Ones Potential for Wisdom and Compassion

Enso-Bankei-Yitaku.jpgIn our daily lives we are easily distracted and afflicted by our experiences and our environment. We are manipulated by the push and pull of the constant social and cultural demands placed upon us.  We falsely believe that we are our passing thoughts and emotions.  We succumb to greed, hate and ignorance, causing suffering for ourselves and others. Over 2500 years ago Buddha taught that there was a way to end suffering. In Ordinary Zen we rely on the teachings of Buddha as the foundation of our practice.  From the Zen perspective, the goal of life is to live fully as a human being, to be fully awakened and realize ones potential for wisdom and compassion.  It is to be a Buddha, which means awakened and free.
